Ø Guest Speaker is Mitch Basefsky of Central Arizona Project Air Quality, Water and Power: How Air Quality Regulations Might Dry Up Arizona. The Central Arizona Project system is truly an engineering marvel. Potential “Cap and Trade” legislation is on the horizon and could lead to significant increases in CAP water costs. This presentation addresses the vulnerable energy supplies and higher costs..

Ø Jim Nelson, CED and Pat Schroeder, CED with Practical Solutions gave a presentation entitled "Show me the money". - This program promises to guide us out of the doldrums of today's financial distress to the realization of successful economic development funding strategies. Central Arizona Association of Governments (CAAG) has received funding from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) that will provide funds for projects such as business park infrastructure, revolving loan funds, and workforce training programs.

Ø Jim Rounds of Elliot Pollack and Associates, City of Eloy Manager Joe Blanton, Ben Belkin of Walton International Group, Court Rich of Rose Law Group, and Rick Brammer of Applied Economics. - Executive Director Gayle Cooper brought an expert panel of leaders from various industries together to discuss the outlook and future Eloy at the September 15th 2009 meeting. The panel also discussed ways that Eloy can be marketed to target more business and attract attention to the city.

Ø Presented by William S. Gaither, PhD, PE, President & CEO: Solar Bullet, LLC - A solar-powered-high-speed-passenger-rail system, the First 116-mile Phase of which will connect Tucson and Phoenix is a visionary project with extensive economic and social benefits accruing to Pinal County and all of Arizona for the coming century.

Ø Presentation by Jim Rounds of Elliot /Pollock, the Economic Development and Marketing Plan for the City of Eloy - Overview on the outlook for the future of the City of Eloy.  An updated report on state of the economy, future growth and suggestions for targeted industry.

Ø  Presenter Robert Bohannan, AICP with Lima & Associates of Phoenix Rob spoke at the in regards to the Small Area Transportation Study that his company was completing. Rob is the Senior Transportation Planner gave quite a bit of insight into the future of Eloy in the years to come.

Ø  Presenter Dennis Criswell with Southwest Public Power Resources Group (SPPRG) -Mr. Criswell spoke about the Sawtooth Generating Station, it's location in the Friendly Corners area, timeline for construction and impact on the Eloy area.

Ø  Presenter Michael Kies of AECOM and Victor Yang with ADOT Michael and Victor gave a complete overview of the widening of I-10 through the Eloy area.  They covered current plans and future forecasts of needed expansion and re-alignments for the corridor.

Ø  Presentation by Larry Harmer – ASLA, APA with W.C. Scoutten The information presented covered timelines, requirements, public input and general land use in regards to the General Plan Update for the City of Eloy.  A public survey is included for your input. 

Ø  Presentation by Luis Heredia – Director, Public Affairs Union Pacific Railroad Double-tracking program and the effects on Eloy along with UP’s growth projections in the coming years.  Construction schedules, forecasts and investment dollars were also reviewed.

Ø Presentation by Ed Borromeo with Global Water.  - This presentation included details about how Global Water works, their water goals per household, automated monitoring process along with the ability to recapture and reuse gray water.

 Ø Presentation by Jason Dudley and Janeen Rohovit from SRP on the Pinal Energy Projects - A excellent display showing the locations and information about the two new Natural Gas Plants that are due to be constructed in and around the Eloy area in Pinal County.

Ø Presentation by Dennis Criswell from SPPR -Southwest Public Power Resources Group - The report had information about the needs of the local power groups in the upcoming years.

Ø City of Eloy Updates by Joe Blanton - The city has continued to update EDGE and the membership with future developments and projects as they are approved.  This has proven to be a vital and key element to our monthly meetings. 

Ø Presentation by Bob Crum/ Eloy Business Park progress and availability - The Eloy Business Park became the first member to participate in the Shovel Ready Program. Detailed explanation of how hard it is to find local and regional benefits that Eloy has to offer.

Ø Presentation by Jim Rounds of Elliot /Pollock on the RBOG, the Economic Development Plan for the City of Eloy - Discusses Arizona Rural Block Opportunity Grant program for the City of Eloy. A complete analysis of where Eloy is with an optimistic population forecast and future growth.

Ø Presentation by EDGE Director and Eric Schulman on the future of Eloy and EDGE - An excellent presentation that shows that highlights growth, expansion, transportation, real estate and forecasts business growth in the Eloy area.

Ø Presentation by Barbara Massey-Nino, MA, BS Executive Director of Pinal County Water Augmentation Authority (PCWAA) - Viewpoints of the World Bank 2005 for developing communities, growth and impacts to water quality, i.e., EPA and the American Public Works Association, and planning for growth with water in rural, western  communities.
